Terms of use

Last updated 11 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Theatra when you use the site. Using Theatra means you accept them. Theatres that run their productions on Theatra also accept the theatre terms below.

1. Your account

Give your real name and keep your details accurate. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with it.

A child under a theatre’s child age needs a parent or guardian to manage their account. If you add someone to your household, you confirm you are their parent or guardian, or have their permission.

2. Auditions and shows

Applying for an audition shares your application with that theatre. Theatres decide who they see and who they cast; applying does not promise a role.

Theatres are responsible for their own productions, rehearsals and venues, and for how they treat the people taking part.

3. Tickets

Tickets are sold by the theatre putting on the show, not by Theatra. The theatre is responsible for the performance, for refunds and for its own ticket conditions. Payments go to the theatre’s own Stripe account; Theatra may charge the theatre a booking fee.

4. What you put on Theatra

What you upload stays yours. You let us store and show it as needed to run the service, for example showing your photo to a theatre you apply to. Only upload what you have the right to share.

5. Fair use

Don’t use Theatra to:

  • harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone;
  • post anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to share;
  • pretend to be someone else, or to act for a theatre you don’t;
  • collect other people’s information, or send unwanted messages;
  • interfere with the service, or try to get at what you aren’t allowed to see.

6. For theatres

A theatre’s owners are responsible for its account, its content and the people it invites, and for handling its members’ and audiences’ information lawfully, including answering their privacy requests about its records.

Theatres are approved before they can sell tickets or take money online. Plans and fees are on the pricing page; we will give notice before changing them.

7. AI writing help

Some boxes offer to polish your writing with AI. Suggestions can be wrong, so read them before you use them. Only the text you ask it to improve is sent.

8. The service

Theatra is in active development (beta). We work to keep it running and your information safe, but it is provided as it is, and features may change.

To the extent the law allows, Theatra is not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by theatres, other users or events outside our control. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded. If you use Theatra for a business purpose, such as running a theatre, you agree that consumer guarantees which may be excluded for business use do not apply.

9. Ending

You can delete your account at any time from your profile, with 30 days to change your mind. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

10. Cookies and privacy

How we handle your information, the cookies we use and the choices you have are set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. You can change your cookie choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page.

11. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the country where Theatra is registered, and its courts decide any dispute. If you use Theatra as a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the laws where you live, or your right to bring a claim there.
